Begin your journey at Gulf Harbour Marina. Views of Auckland city and Rangitoto Island can be seen from the impressive warships. There is parking here, or you can take the ferry from Auckland city.
Take the direction that circles the marina. To escape the marina working zone, you’ll need to take a short detour in one area.
Cross Laurie Southwick Parade after the marina and continue north on the footpath. Take Gulf Harbour Drive to the left.
You’ll pass Gulf Harbour Recreation Reserve, which has a nice playground for the kids to enjoy (partially shaded by shade sails). Alternatively, cross the street to one of Gulf Harbour village’s cafes for a cup of coffee.
Continue on Gulf Harbour Drive until you enter Regency Park Drive (there is a pedestrian crossing opposite Wentworth College.
Take a walk along Regency Park Drive, which runs parallel to the river, and you might see some locals racing model boats. Ducks, black swans, and pukeko are all to be seen.
You’ll come to a small reserve with two slides and a second colourful children’s playground. To enter Fishermans Rock Reserve, continue on the path through the reserve, crossing Whangaparoa Road.
